Working alongside AdvoKids Kami Morgan now serves as Executive Director of Xander's Place, where she leads efforts to support children and families with special needs through nonprofit leadership and community engagement. Living in Oak Ridge with her husband and sons, Kami has spent her career building resources and support systems for families navigating the world of special education.
Her path into this work began years ago as a Comprehensive Developmental Classroom teaching assistant, where she worked directly with children across a wide range of abilities and needs. That hands on experience gave her a deep, personal understanding of what families face, an understanding she later brought to her time supporting AdvoKids families through their IEP and 504 Plan journeys.
Since helping build Xander's Place from its earliest days, Kami has led the development of sensory friendly spaces designed to give children a place to thrive, organized large scale community fundraisers that keep the organization's mission moving forward, and built partnerships with schools and businesses to expand what Xander's Place can offer. She has also connected countless families with vital resources, drawing on the same instincts for advocacy and support that made her such a trusted presence during her time with AdvoKids.
When she's not working, Kami enjoys spending time with her family, staying active in her community, and continuing to grow the kind of resources and spaces that help children and families feel understood and supported, work that now finds its fullest expression through Xander's Place.
